The Cyprus Music Video Festival Youth is the most important platform for young music video creators and enthusiasts in Cyprus, dedicated to showcasing the talents of filmmakers under 24.

Our mission is to celebrate the vibrant art of music video production among the next generation of creators. We bring the best youth-made music videos to the big screen, offering a unique space for young talents to share their work with peers and industry professionals.

The festival is part of Youth Tech Fest, and Cult Experiences Festival which empowers young musicians, filmmakers, dancers, actors, and artists to amplify their voice and build their careers in the arts.

Music and music video photography is a multifaceted genre that seeks to encapsulate the essence, creativity, and visual storytelling of both live performances and video productions through the lens of a camera. This specialized field involves capturing musicians and dancers during live shows, behind-the-scenes moments, or in carefully curated photoshoots, aiming to freeze key moments that convey the emotion, style, and artistic vision embedded in both music and music videos.

Photographers in this genre must possess a comprehensive understanding of both photography techniques and the intricacies of live performances and video production. This includes capturing the energy of live shows, dynamic dance movements, and the unique atmosphere of various musical genres. Collaboration with artists, directors, choreographers, and production teams is essential to create images that vividly represent the passion and creativity inherent in both music and music videos.

Rules & Terms:

IMPORTANT: To be eligible for an award, it is essential to include the names of the crew and cast members who will be nominated in the production credits section of the submission form. For instance, to be considered for the Best Cinematography award, you must clearly specify the individual or team responsible for the cinematography of the music video. Failure to provide this information will render the submission ineligible for an award or nomination in the respective category. Ensure thorough and accurate credits to maximize your eligibility for recognition in the Cyprus Music Video Festival Youth.

MUSIC VIDEOS OR PHOTOGRAPHS SUBMITTED MUST BE THE ENTRANT’S ORIGINAL WORK and shall not infringe on any copyrights or any other rights of third parties. Contestants must ensure that they have obtained all required copyright permissions regarding music, sound, images, etc., used in their work.

Rules & Eligibility:

  1. No premiere restriction for music videos at the Cyprus Music Video Festival Youth.
  2. Music videos without English subtitles are accepted and appreciated; however, if they are not in English or Greek and lack subtitles, they are not eligible for the Best Lyrics award.
  3. Multiple entries from the same submitter are accepted.
  4. Music videos can be of any length but must have been completed or released after April 22nd, 2023. Exceptions will be made at the discretion of the festival organizers. You cannot submit a music video again if it has been screened in any previous year at our festival.
  5. The festival is open to submissions from young creators worldwide under the age of 24.
  6. The decision of the festival selection committee is final.
  7. No fee waivers. All entry fees are non-refundable.
  8. Excerpts from music videos submitted to the Cyprus Music Video Festival Youth may be used for promotional purposes on TV, local networks, radio, or online.
  9. Selection for the festival does not guarantee that your music video will be screened at the evening event in Limassol.
  10. All music videos submitted will be reviewed and scored by the jury. Based on these scores, winners will be selected.
  11. The final selection will be announced on the notification date.
  12. Original Work: Music videos must be the entrant’s original work and not infringe on copyrights or other third-party rights. Contestants must confirm they have obtained all necessary copyright permissions for music, sound, and images used in their music videos.
  13. All participants must guarantee that their music videos do not violate applicable laws.
  14. Cyprus Music Video Festival Youth organizers reserve the right to change, cancel, or reschedule dates, venues, awards, categories, rules, or terms without prior notice.
  15. The organizers reserve the right to withhold any or all prizes.
  16. Each official selection comes with two free tickets to the festival.
  17. Eligibility: Open to youth filmmakers, photographers, and creators aged 24 or younger. Minors must have parental consent to enter.
  18. Submissions are exclusively collected through FilmFreeway.
  19. Digital images must be in JPG format, at least 3600 pixels on the long side, and saved at 300 dpi.
  20. Photographs may be submitted in either color or black and white.
  21. The person submitting must be the creator or part of the team that holds the rights to the entry and must not infringe on any third-party copyrights. Contestants must ensure they have obtained all necessary copyright permissions for images used.
  22. Unlimited Entries: You may submit as many entries as you’d like.
  23. By entering the Cyprus Music Video Festival Youth, the entrant warrants that they have the authority to submit their music video or photograph, and that it does not infringe on copyright or other intellectual property rights.
  24. The entrant agrees to indemnify the CMVF Youth against any third-party claims arising from the use of their music video or photograph.
  25. Artwork & Copyright: Photographs featuring works of art (sculptures, statues, paintings, etc.) will be accepted as long as they do not infringe on copyrights. Entrants must provide a release form at the festival’s discretion if requested.
  26. Entries must not contain material that promotes bigotry, hatred, racism, or discrimination against any group or individual, or promote discrimination based on race, sex, religion, nationality, disability, sexual orientation, or age.
  27. By submitting an entry, the entrant understands that if selected as a winner, their work will be posted and distributed in various public media for Cyprus Music Video Festival Youth’s publications and events.
  28. The festival will cover exhibition display costs. If any sales opportunities are available at the festival, a 50% commission on all sales will go to the CMVF Youth.
